FOOD AND ENVIRONMENT SIERRA LEONE (FoodEnv-SL)
Background
FoodEnv-SL is a Community Based Organization that works with and develop capacities of Farmer Cooperatives, Farmer Based Organizations, and Youth Groups in agriculture and environment programmes including water resources, agriculture and food security, environment and climate change, and land restoration.
FoodEnv-SL was founded on the 20th May, 2016 to mitigate the threats of food insecurity and environmental degradation. Food insecurity and deforestation are prevalent problems affecting the health, environment and socio-economic stability of both major and small cities in Sierra Leone. Generally, climate change exercabate food insecurity and environmental threats through changes of patterns with erratic rainfall resulting to poor farm yields, water scarcity, bush fire and persistent flooding of both coastal and inland communities.
FoodEnv-SL recognizes the importance of integrated approach to resource management and development, and has carefully designed it activities around the food-water-waste nexus to ensure sustainable national development.

Poultry Project in Banga Ground

The Poultry Project will provide employment for 10 community youths and improve food security through provision of fresh eggs and chicken in the surrounding towns. It will also improve soil fertility through production of chicken manure, an important component of organic manure.

FoodEnv-SL offers investors access to income streams from the "Farm Investment" scheme.
Investors may choose from a list of farm projects pertaining food security or environment and climate change that are of interest and could be actively/passively involved in the farm activity until close of project.
