Goat Farming
Goat meat is highly desired by Sierra Leoneans for its delicious taste, aroma, high nutritional value that is appropriate for all age classes. There is a forecast that goat meat will be scarce and expensive in the near future; the present supply would not be able to meet future demand as goat farmers are not expanding their flock while new consumers are on the increase.

First Season Maize (2021)
Maize (Zea Mays) is the third most import cereal crop in the world. However, little of this maize is consumed directly by humans. Most is used for producing corn ethanol, animal feed and other maize products such as corn syrup and starch.
In Sierra Leone maize is a delicious cereal eaten boiled, roasted, or processed into flower for cakes, and also used for poultry and livestock feed. Maize is normally cultivated early or late in the wet season (rain-fed). It is also cultivated in the lowlands when water levels are low during the dry season (irrigated).
The challenges for the dry season crop are enormous with widespread water shortages, intensive dry weather and pest infestation.
Maize grains from this farm will be sold for poultry feed.
Farm size is approximately 1.5 hectares, located in Mateti village (Mile 91).
Duration between June to September 2021
Activities includes: Brushing, Clearing, Tillage, Layout, Planting, Weeding, Fertigation, specialized Agronomic Practices, Harvest.
